What to Expect

Tour Itinerary

An epic journey through Baltistan's wilderness and high-altitude wonders

Day 1: Islamabad to Chilas

Depart Islamabad and drive along the Karakoram Highway. Stop at scenic viewpoints including Nanga Parbat viewpoint. Overnight in the best available accommodation in Chilas.

Day 2: Chilas to Skardu

Continue the scenic drive to Skardu through dramatic mountain landscapes. Arrive in Skardu and rest for acclimatization. Evening walk in local bazaar.

Day 3: Skardu - Shangrila & Upper Kachura Lake

Visit the famous Shangrila Resort (Lower Kachura Lake) and the stunning Upper Kachura Lake. Explore Skardu Fort for panoramic views of the valley. Visit local bazaar.

Day 4: Shigar Valley & Fort

Full day trip to Shigar Valley. Visit the beautifully restored 400-year-old Shigar Fort (now a museum). Explore ancient mosques, traditional Balti villages, and apricot orchards.

Day 5: Satpara Lake & Cold Desert

Visit Satpara Lake and dam with stunning mountain reflections. Explore the unique Katpana Cold Desert with sand dunes against a backdrop of snow-capped peaks. Optional camel ride.

Day 6: Deosai Plains - Day 1

Drive to Deosai National Park, the second-highest plateau in the world (4,114m). Wildlife spotting including Himalayan brown bears, marmots, and rare birds. Camp overnight in the wilderness with best available camping equipment.

Day 7: Deosai Plains - Day 2

Full day exploring Deosai. Visit Sheosar Lake, one of the highest lakes in the world. Witness endless vistas of wildflower meadows (in summer) and dramatic landscapes. Second night camping with best available camping equipment.

Day 8: Deosai to Skardu via Astore

Return from Deosai via the scenic Astore route. Stop at viewpoints and traditional villages. Arrive back in Skardu for overnight stay in the best available accommodation.

Day 9: Skardu to Islamabad

Scenic flight back to Islamabad (weather permitting, 50 minutes) or drive via Karakoram Highway. If flying, afternoon free in Islamabad. If driving, overnight in the best available accommodation in Chilas.
